National Minimum Wage Rates From October 2010 0
From 1st October 2010 there has been an increase in National Minimum Wage Rates as follows
- From £5.80 to £5.93 for those workers aged 21 and over
- From £4.83 to £4.92 for workers who are aged 18 to 20 years old and,
- From £3.57 to £3.64 for workers aged 16 or 17 years old
these rates represent an increase of approximately 2% in each category
Minimum Wage Rate for Apprentices
Following a recommendation from the Low Pay Commission the government has also introduced a minimum rate for apprentices of £2.50. This will apply to
- All apprentices who are under 19 years old and
- Apprentices who are aged 19 years old and over but are in the first year of their apprenticeship.
